Don't Use The Public Restroom If You See This Seemingly Harmless Decoration
Technology has seen such an incredible amount of advancement that what used to be bulky can now be miniscule in size. While these advancements have benefited some of the products we use every day, they have also threatened our personal privacy.
Police are warning people to use extra caution if they spot a suspicious looking coat hook. While coat hooks are incredibly common in bathrooms, hotels, and houses, detectives have discovered that hundreds have been harbouring a terrifying secret.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office posted to
their Facebook page, ‘Detectives in the Upper Keys are investigating
three reports involving hidden cameras found in women’s restrooms. In
all three incidents, miniature cameras hidden in coat hooks were found
mounted on walls in the women’s restrooms. They were found at Anne’s
Beach on May 26th, the Circle K Store at the 99.8 mile marker of Highway
U.S. One on May 28th and in the women’s bathroom at Harry Harris Park
in Tavernier.’
Police departments across
the country are performing checks in public facilities for these cameras
after the various reports. The hooks found were plastic, battery
operated, have a MicroSD memory card, and a small hole in the base where
the camera is located.
Sheriff Rick Ramsay told the Miami Herald, ‘If you find anything suspicious you think might contain a hidden camera, don’t touch it. Call us right away and we will respond.’ The investigation is currently focused in Miami where several incidents have occurred, but everyone should use caution in public restrooms and report anything suspicious.
